Three Suspects in the Khilafatul Muslimin Convoy Case Subjected to Treason

The three suspects were charged with Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning the Criminal Code and/or Article 107 of the Criminal Code concerning treason.

The Central Java Regional Police (Polda Jateng) have named three suspects related to the alleged convoy of the Khilafatul Muslimin organization in Brebes Regency that occurred some time ago.

The Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police, Kombes Pol. Iqbal Alqudusy, stated in Semarang that the three suspects were the heads of their respective branches with the initials GZ as the head of the Jamaah Khilafatul Muslimin, DS, and AS branches, which were the branch leaders of the Khilafatul Muslimin Jamaah.

Iqbal said the determination of the suspect was based on the examination of witnesses and evidence. "There were 14 witnesses who were examined, including experts," said the Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police.

Iqbal explained that they were the party responsible for the convoy on May 29, 2022. In the convoy, he continued, Khilafatul Muslimin was suspected of spreading false news to the public and potentially treason.

The three suspects were charged with Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning the Criminal Code and/or Article 107 of the Criminal Code concerning treason.

He added that the potential for treason arose over the alleged existence of the Khilafatul Muslimin, which is referred to as an HTI embryo, which is currently banned in Indonesia. (antara)
