Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan raised the price of entrance tickets to Borobudur Temple fantastically.
Initially, the ticket price for local visitors was Rp. 50,000 for those aged over 10 years and Rp. 25,000 for those aged 3-10 years.

Luhut has a strong reason to increase the ticket price for Borobudur Temple, namely to preserve the historical and cultural wealth.
"We are taking this step solely for the sake of preserving the rich history and culture of the archipelago," Luhut said in his Instagram account, Saturday (4/6/2022).
In addition, the increase in entrance tickets is also to limit the number of visits.
Luhut targets the number of tourist visits to Borobudur Temple to be 1,200 per day.
In addition to the increased entrance ticket, he continued, all tourists who enter Borobudur Temple are also required to use the services of a guide from local residents.
