The Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo, stated that the National Police formed a task force to prevent political disturbances with the nuances of identity-based hatred ahead of the 2024 Pilkada and Presidential Elections.
The National Police cooperates with the KPU, Bawaslu, and political parties to prevent interference with identity-based hate politics in the 2024 Pilkada and Presidential Elections.
"To prevent identity politics and provocations, the National Police and relevant stakeholders together with the KPU, Bawaslu, and political parties for the election contestation will jointly prepare task forces," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo in his statement, Tuesday, June 14, 2022.
Dedi said the formation of the Presidential and Regional Head Election task force in 2024 aims to provide dignified socialization, education, and campaign literacy, maintain ethics, tolerance, religious moderation, and maintain unity.
He said his party would form a focus group discussion (FGD) involving the community. This is to maintain the unity and diversity of religions and races.
"Together with Kominfo and social media activists to socialize and campaign for religious moderation, tolerance, and maintaining diversity," he said.
According to him, his party will also activate joint cyber patrols. It aims to warn people who spread provocative content.
The National Police is also ready to secure the implementation and stages of the 2024 Simultaneous Election by holding Operation Mantap Brata. "Later on, the National Police will hold Operation Mantap Brata from the Headquarters level to the level of the police ranks," said Dedi. (polri, antara)
