Indonesia Invites G20 Countries to Face the Pandemic with the Balinese Philosophy "Tat Twam Asi"

"Tat Twam Asi which means I am you, you are me."

Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin invited G20 countries to face the pandemic with Indonesian local wisdom.

Budi invites G20 countries to practice the Balinese philosophy of Tat Twam Asi in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Tat Twam Asi means I am you, you are me," said Budi in the 3rd G20 Health Working Group (HWG) teleconference, Monday, August 22, 2022.

Budi assessed that the philosophy was relevant to the government's efforts at the G20 meeting. The pandemic is teaching the world the importance of taking care of yourself and others.

Budi said that Indonesia carries three main agendas in the G20 forum. From strengthening the resilience of global health systems, aligning global health protocol standards, to expanding global manufacturing and research centers for the prevention, preparedness and response of the upcoming pandemic.

"The main output of this third HWG is to build a vaccine, therapy and diagnostic tool (VTD) manufacturing center and a collaborative research center," he explained.

The second output is various mechanisms and harmonization of regulations to facilitate the process of increasing global capacity. So that the availability of VTD during a public health emergency can be accelerated.
