Jokowi asked ministers to issue statements showing sympathy for the current conditions.
President Jokowi rebuked his ministers for being diligent in voicing the extension of the presidential term to three terms and the postponement of the 2024 election.
Jokowi conveyed this in the Plenary Cabinet Session which was attended by all ministers to heads of institutions at the State Palace, Tuesday 5 April 2022.
"Don't let anyone say anything about delaying (elections), extending (presidential term), no!" said Jokowi in the introduction to the opening of the cabinet meeting which was replayed on the Presidential Secretary's Youtube Wednesday, April 6, 2022.
Jokowi said that currently the condition of Indonesia was being hit by difficulties due to the increase in fuel prices to basic needs. So, he asked the ministers to focus on work so that the burden on society is reduced.

"Say in the language of the people and what steps the government has taken in dealing with the crisis and rising inflation, and don't cause polemics in the community, focus on working on dealing with the difficulties we face," said Jokowi.
Previously, the discourse on extending the presidential term and postponing the 2024 general election was heavily voiced by the Chairman of the National Awakening Party, Muhaimin Iskandar and Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto.
