President Joko Widodo asked his staff to conduct a good selection to select the 101 candidates for regional heads. The acting head will replace the regional head whose term of office ends in 2022.
The President reminded that there are 101 regional heads whose terms of office expire in 2022. They consist of seven governors, 76 regents, and 18 mayors.
"I ask that the selection of these regional official figures is really carried out properly so that we get capable regional officials, have strong leadership, and are able to carry out heavy tasks in the midst of a difficult global economic situation," said the President during the Election Preparatory Meeting. and the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections at the Presidential Palace, Bogor, West Java, on the official Youtube channel of the Presidential Secretariat, Sunday (10/4/2022).
The President assessed that the selection of officers who have the capability is needed to oversee the preparation and implementation of the 2024 General Election and Regional Head Election.
To prepare for the two grand political parties, the government will inaugurate members of the General Election Commission (KPU) and the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) for the 2022-2027 period on Tuesday (12/4/2022).
For information, the seven provinces whose governors expire in 2022 are Bangka Belitung, Banten, Gorontalo, West Sulawesi, while West Papua on May 12, Aceh (5 July), and DKI Jakarta (16 October). (setneg)
