The need to build 'bridges' in all regions, including the Indo Pacific, is based on trust.
Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi delivered a speech at the Delhi Dialogue at the ASEAN and India foreign ministers meeting, Thursday (16/6/2022).
Retno mentioned that the conditions in Ukraine could happen in the Indo Pacific if there was no trust between countries in the region.
Retno said it was necessary to build 'bridges' in all regions, including the Indo Pacific. But there will be no solid bridge if there is no trust.
"We will not be able to build bridges if there is no trust in each other," said Retno in a written statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs received by IDN Times, Thursday (16/6/2022).
Building bridges, he continued, means narrowing gaps, overcoming differences, connecting countries and enhancing cooperation.
"One thing we need before we build bridges is to maintain strategic trust and manage strategic competition," said Retno. (kemluri, antara)
