TNI Commander Ensures Container Sealed in Lampung Contains 618 Weapons

The 618 weapons in the container will be used for the joint Garuda Shield 2022 exercise.

The Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General Andika Perkasa, responded to the finding of containers containing weapons that were sealed by Customs at Panjang Port, Lampung.

Andika confirmed that the container contained 618 weapons. The weapons will be used for the joint Garuda Shield 2022 exercise.

"Those weapons that have not been included in the list of security clearance requests, yes, security clearance requests are individual weapons, in total 618," Andika said at the TNI Headquarters Plaza, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, Sunday (24/7/2022).

The TNI Commander added that the joint Garuda Shield exercise would be attended by 1,125 US military personnel.

In addition to these weapons, the TNI Commander said there were a number of helicopters that had come for joint exercises. These include helicopters to having land vehicles. Military vehicles including helicopters have already arrived and entered the manifest.

"At Port Panjang, 11 helicopters have arrived, 4 types of APCs which we have attack helicopters, 7 blackhawk helicopters, 4 firing units for artillery field rocket systems which we are Astros.

Andika added that there will be 3 units of fire for 105 caliber field artillery, 41 having land vehicles and some heavy equipment, trailers and trucks. (antara)
