The Indonesian Navy found photos of military guard posts, border markers, and the port of the National Border Post (PLBN) in the suspect's cellphone gallery.
The Indonesian Navy's Ambalat XXVIII Marine Task Force arrested six people consisting of three Indonesian citizens and three foreigners in North Kalimantan (Kaltara).
The three Indonesian citizens are EW (23), TR (40) , YY (40). Meanwhile, three foreigners on behalf of LS (40), HK (40) and BJ (45). They are suspected to be foreign intelligence.
The six people were arrested when the guard at Sei Pancang Post, North Kalimantan, Kopda Mochamad Arif saw a black Avanza vehicle passing in front of the Post, Wednesday (21/7).
The soldier then stopped the vehicle and inspected people, documents and goods.
After it was discovered that there were foreigners, passengers and drivers were directed to get off for further inspection at the post
The Commander of the Sei Pancang Post, Lettu Mar Victor Aji Hersanto, checked the completeness of documents and cellphones belonging to foreigners.
"There are photos of military guard posts, border markers, ports of the State Border Post (PLBN) in their cellphone gallery, which can be seen how they were taken secretly," Hersanto said in a written statement, Friday (22/7).
Hersanto then reported the findings to the Dansatgasmar Ambalat XXVIII Marine Captain Andreas Parsaulian Manalu, and contacted the Kopaska Team, BIN, BAIS, SGI, Intel Kodim 0911, East Sebatik Police, and Immigration for further coordination and handling.
Andreas said the illegal taking of photos could be charged with the Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE) Law Number 19 of 2016.
"Furthermore, we handed over the six people to the Sebatik Immigration for further processing by securing the perpetrators to the Nunukan Immigration office," said Andreas. (antara)
