The State Loss Rp.78 Trillion, Is It Really The Biggest Corruption Case of Duta Palma in Indonesia?

In the Asabri corruption case, losses were only in the range of Rp. 22 trillion, the Jiwasraya corruption case was in the range of Rp. 16 trillion.

The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has named PT Darmex Group boss Surya Darmadi and former Indragiri Hulu Regent Thamsir Rahman as suspects in the case of misuse of location permits and plantation business permits in the area in Indragiri Hulu on an area of 37,095 hectares.

Surya and Thamsir's actions are suspected of causing not only state losses, but also the country's economy. The amount is not kidding, reaching IDR 78 trillion for the country's economy that has been harmed.

The amount of this loss is quite large, even the largest when compared to other cases. In the Asabri corruption case, for example, the loss was only in the range of Rp. 22 trillion. Likewise with the Jiwasraya corruption case, which is in the range of Rp. 16 trillion.

Economic Loss of This Case

Kapuspenkum AGO Ketut Sumedana explained the state's economic loss in this case. According to Ketut, PT Duta Palma, a subsidiary of Darmex Group, has never fulfilled its legal obligation to provide a Partnership Pattern of 20 percent of the total managed plantation area as mandated in Article 11 of the Regulation of the Minister of Agriculture Number 26 of 2007.

The actions of the Darmex Group resulted in the loss of the state economy in the form of the loss of the rights of the people of Indragiri Hulu Regency who previously had benefited from forest products to improve their economy and the destruction of forest ecosystems.

The AGO also mentioned that proving the offense against the state's economy must be linked to the policies of the central and regional governments related to economic recovery or improvement. This element can be proven without proving the element of state financial loss first.

Meanwhile, this case is a corruption case with the largest state economic loss in the history of Indonesian law. (AGO, Antara, News24)
