Starting May 18, Indonesia Abolishes the Mandatory Covid-19 Test Requirements for Tourists

The Indonesian government, starting 18 May 2022, will revoke the mandatory Covid-19 test for tourists who have been fully vaccinated.

The Indonesian government has decided to abolish the mandatory Covid-19 test provisions for travelers both from abroad and within the country.

The abolition of the mandatory Covid-19 test provisions applies to travelers who have fulfilled the complete vaccination requirements.

Spokesman for the Covid-19 Task Force (Satgas) Wiku Adisasmito said the decision would be effective tomorrow, Wednesday (18/5/2022).

"The President's directive is elaborated and will be outlined in several policy changes related to controlling Covid-19 regarding travel within the country and abroad, the effective period is tomorrow, May 18, 2022," said Wiku at a press conference held online, Tuesday (17/17/2020). 5/2022).

Wiku said the decision to abolish the mandatory Covid-19 test was in consideration of the latest developments in national and global cases.

However, this policy was taken by considering the principle of prudence. He also said that the government decided to take advantage of the trend of Covid-19 cases nationally and globally which tended to be sloping as a momentum for national economic recovery.

"At this moment, the government has agreed to take advantage of the time for the national economic recovery, which has been affected by the pandemic for the past two years, to recover," said Wiku.

"And of course we hope that this policy can be implemented well, but the public remains alert, alert, and adaptive to the various changes that will occur in the future," he said.
