This is The Reason The TNI Commander Allows PKI Descendants to Become TNI Members

The TNI commander said there was no legal basis forbidding a descendant of the PKI to register.

TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa allowed descendants of the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) to register as TNI soldiers.

The TNI commander said there was no legal basis forbidding a descendant of the PKI to register.

"In my era, there are no descendants from what, no, because I use a legal basis," he said on General TNI Andika Perkara's official YouTube account on Wednesday, March 30, 2022.

This statement was conveyed by Andika at a coordination meeting for the reception of TNI soldiers (TNI Academy, PA PK TNI, NCO, and Tamtama TNI). The meeting was held with the Central Committee for Admission of TNI Soldiers for the 2022 Fiscal Year at the TNI Headquarters in Jakarta.

This meeting discussed the mechanism for accepting TNI soldiers. Starting from the mental test of ideology, psychology, academics, physical fitness, and health.

Then when reviewing the ideological mental test, Andika questioned what was judged from point number four relating to the descendants of the prospective soldier. "Who wants to be judged? If he has descendants from what?," he said to the committee.

The committee also answered that they were descendants of the organizations involved in the 1965/1966 incident. The legal basis used by the committee was the Provisional People's Consultative Assembly Decree or MPRS Decree Number XXV of 1966 concerning the Dissolution of the PKI.

The committee had mentioned that the MPRS TAP also banned the underbouw organization of the PKI. It was this statement from the committee that made Andika hesitate and asked to re-check the actual rules. "Are you sure about this? Search the internet now," he said.

Andika then conveyed to the meeting participants that TAP MPRS Number XXV/1966 declared the PKI to be a prohibited organization.

"There are no underbouw words of all kinds," he said.

Next, the MPRS TAP also declared Communism, Leninism, and Marxism, as forbidden teachings. "That's the content, this is the legal basis, it's legal. But what the PKI prohibited, the two teachings of Communism, Leninism, and Marxism, were written down," he said.

Andika again asked what legal basis was violated by a descendant of the PKI. "There is no ready," said the committee.

Thus, Andika immediately reminded the committee not to make up this mental ideology test. Andika immediately asked for point number four to be removed.

"So let's not make it up, I am a person who obeys the laws and regulations, remember this, if we prohibit, make sure we have a legal basis," he said.

Previously, the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General Andika Perkasa, also abolished the swimming test and academic tests in the acceptance of prospective members of the TNI. (antara, tempo)
