Ministry of Religion Issues 12 Guidelines for Worship During Ramadan and Eid 2022

The Indonesian Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) issued a circular regarding guidelines for the implementation of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1443 Hijri worship.

The Ministry of Religion stated that the basis for issuing this regulation was to create a sense of security, comfort and solemnity for Muslims in carrying out worship during the pandemic.

Circular No. SE 08 of 2022 was signed by the Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas on March 29, 2022.

"Muslims are encouraged to fill in and improve practices during Ramadan, such as tarawih prayers, iktikaf, tadarus Al-Qur'an, recitation, zakat, infaq, alms, and waqf, but with due observance of health protocols," Yaqut said, quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Religion. .


12 Guidelines for Ramadan Worship

The following are the provisions in the Circular for the Implementation of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1443 H:

1. Muslims carry out the worship of Ramadan and Eid in accordance with the provisions of Islamic law.

2. Muslims are encouraged to fill out and improve practices in the month of Ramadan, such as tarawih prayers, iktikaf, tadarus Al-Qur'an, recitation, zakat, infaq, alms, and waqf while still observing health protocols.

3. In organizing Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr worship, the administrators and managers of mosques/musalas pay attention to the Circular of the Minister of Religion regarding the implementation of worship/religious activities in places of worship during the Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities in accordance with the status of their respective regional levels and implementing health protocols.

4. The administrators and managers of the mosque/musala as referred to in number 3 are obligated to appoint officers who ensure the socialization and application of health protocols to all congregants.


5. Officials and State Civil Apparatus are prohibited from holding or attending joint iftar, sahur, and/or Eid open houses.

6. People who hold iftar activities together, sahur together, and/or open houses for Eid al-Fitr must pay attention to health protocols.

7. Covid-19 vaccination can be done in the month of Ramadan by following health guidelines.


8. The activities of collecting and distributing zakat maal, zakat fitrah, infaq, and alms by the National Amil Zakat Agency, Amil Zakat Institutions, and the community are carried out with due regard to health protocols.

9. The missionaries/religious lecturers are expected to play a role in strengthening the values of faith, piety, unity, harmony, the benefit of the people, and nationality in the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia through material and language of da'wah that is wise and polite in accordance with the guidance of the Qur'an and As-Sunnah , and does not contradict the problem of khilafiyah.


10. The public is advised to recite the takbir on the eve of Eid Al-Fitr in 1443 H/2022 AD in their respective mosques/musalas or homes.

11. The use of loudspeakers refers to the Circular of the Minister of Religion Number SE.05 of 2022 concerning Guidelines for the Use of Loudspeakers in Mosques and Musala.

12. Eid prayer 1 Syawal 1443 H/2022 AD can be carried out in mosques or in open fields with due observance of health protocols.
