The patient had symptoms of fever and enlarged spleen.
Spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Mohammad Syahril, confirmed that the first positive case of monkeypox in Indonesia had symptoms of fever and enlarged spleen.
The patient also had chickenpox or a rash on the face, palms, and around the genitals.
"The patient is in good condition. There are no serious symptoms," said Syahril at a press conference, Saturday (20/8).
Syahril said the patient who was confirmed positive for monkeypox was a 27-year-old man from DKI Jakarta.
"The patient has a history of traveling abroad," added Syahril.
Previously, the World Health Organization (WHO) had declared monkeypox as a global health emergency. A number of countries have also declared monkeypox outbreaks as a health emergency. (Kemenles, photo: illustration)
