Mahfud Md: Act Institutions Must Be Legally Processed If Proven Misappropriation of Donation Funds

Mahfud asked law enforcement officers to take criminal action against ACT if the agency is proven to have misappropriated the donated funds.

Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law, and Security (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD feels that the non-profit organization Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) should not only be condemned but also be punished if it is proven to misappropriate donated funds from the people.

Mahfud MD admitted that he had ordered the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) to cooperate with the National Police in tracing the flow of ACT funds obtained from donations from the people.

Previously, it was known that Mahfud had been involved in promoting philanthropic institutions which are now in the spotlight regarding the misappropriation of aid funds.

Through his social media, Mahfud admitted that he had been asked for promotional support (endorsement) by ACT around 2016-2017. At that time, he wanted to provide promotional assistance because the agency was touting its dedication to various humanitarian issues.

"In 2016/2017 I have endorsed ACT activities for reasons of service to humanity in Palestine, ISIS victims in Syria, and natural disasters in Papua," said Mahfud.

Now Mahfud is asking law enforcement officials to take ACT criminal action if the agency is proven to have misappropriated donated funds. (antara)
