Luhut Invites All Parties to Cohesively Overcome Inflation Like a Universal War

Efforts to overcome inflation are like a universal people's war that involves all parties.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan invites all to unite in overcoming inflation or rising prices.

Coordinating Minister Luhut said that efforts to overcome inflation are like a universal people's war that involves all parties. This is because inflation is not a person-to-person issue.

"We are in a situation like now, we must be united, I repeat, be united. These words are all united, we are as if the language of the army used to be a universal people's war, we are all united in facing this," said Luhut while attending the Regional Inflation Control Coordination Meeting, Tuesday. (30/8/2022).

Luhut added that the people can play a role in reducing inflation by planting their own food commodities, such as red chili, shallots, cayenne pepper, and tomatoes, which are the biggest contributors to inflation.

"So I mean, come on, friends, for us to work together to keep this inflation, don't use too sophisticated things," said Luhut.

Luhut said that efforts to deal with inflation must be carried out in an integrated manner, such as efforts to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic. According to him, if all are united and do not blame each other, these efforts will produce positive results.

Previously, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that inflation in July 2022 was recorded at 0.64 percent on a monthly basis, higher than the June 2022 period of 0.61 percent. Meanwhile, on an annual basis it was 4.94 percent, higher than July 2021 which was 4.35 percent.
