Jokowi Meets with Entrepreneurs from the United Arab Emirates to Discuss the Nusantara IKN Project

The IKN project was also one of the four main topics that Jokowi discussed with UAE businessmen.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) met with a number of businessmen in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. They discussed the State Capital or IKN Nusantara project.

SOE Minister Erick Thohir who attended the meeting said Abu Dhabi was very optimistic about the IKN project.

"Because we see examples of big cities in the world which are now also centers of economic growth for their respective countries," Erick said in a statement after the meeting at the Emirates Palace Hotel, Abu Dhabi, Friday, July 1, 2022.

Entrepreneurs and investors who attended were National Security Advisor Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Group 42 Ltd CEO Peng Xiao, Abu Dhabi Holding CEO Mohamed Hassan Al Suwaidi, and Lulu Group Executive Director Ashraf Ali.

Group 42 Ltd CEO Peng Xiao was noted to be the one who met Jokowi the most. Group 42 is a computing and artificial intelligence company based in Abu Dhabi.

On March 7, the UAE delegation met Jokowi at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java. At that time, Peng Xiao was present with UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Mohammed Al Mazroei.

Previously, Jokowi came to Abu Dhabi in a series of visits abroad. Jokowi has attended the G7 Summit in Elmau, Germany; to Ukraine and Russia, until finally in Abu Dhabi, before returning to Indonesia.

IKN is also one of the four main topics discussed by Jokowi with businessmen. In addition to IKN, the meeting discussed air logistics, marine tourism development, and comparison of Indonesia's financial policies with other countries. (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, antara)
