President Joko Widodo emphasized that Indonesia wants to unite all members of the G20. Jokowi wants the countries of the G20 members not to break up due to conflict.
"Peace and stability are the keys to the recovery and development of the world economy," said Jokowi in a video caption uploaded to the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Friday (20/4/2022).
Jokowi stated that as the holder of the G20 presidential mandate in 2022, he had spoken with several state leaders and the UN Secretary General in the last two months about the preparations for the G20 Summit which will be held in Bali, next November.
The President also revealed that he often discusses by telephone regarding the dynamics of the current global situation, including the Russia-Ukraine war.
"On March 7, 2022, I communicated with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Then on March 8, 2022, I communicated with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and on March 16, 2022, I also spoke with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau," Jokowi said.
"Then 22 March 2022, with French President Emmanuel Macron, and 31 March 2022 in talks with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, and 12 April 2022 with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres," he said.
In addition, on Wednesday (27/4/2022) at 15.00 WIB, Jokowi also communicated with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Then on Thursday (28/4/2022) the president also had a telephone conversation with Portuguese President Marcelo de Sousa and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Jokowi understands that the G20 has a role as a catalyst in the recovery of the world economy.
Currently, there are two big agendas regarding the recovery of the world economy due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine. (setpres)
