The COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia remains under control despite a spike in cases due to the BA.4 and BA.5 variants.
Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin said the peak of Covid-19 usually occurred on the 30th to 40th day since the first case was discovered.
Indonesia has entered its 30th day after confirming the findings of the BA.4 and BA.5 variants.
“There is one to two weeks ahead when compared to other countries. So the peak should have been reached," Budi said in a teleconference in Jakarta, Monday, July 4, 2022.
Budi said the COVID-19 pandemic situation in Indonesia was still under control. However, there was a spike in cases due to the BA.4 and BA.5 variants.
Budi compared the current spike in several other countries. The increase reached 30 percent from the previous peak of cases.
According to Budi, the high spike in Covid-19 cases in other countries was due to carelessness and carelessness in relaxing health protocols (prokes). Meanwhile, Indonesian people are relatively more disciplined in carrying out health procedures and vaccinations. (antara, medcom)
