Vehicle owners who are more than three years old and will pay vehicle tax are required to meet the emission test quality standards.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Environment Agency, Asep Kuswanto, said that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will implement a policy of fulfilling the quality standards for emission test results as the basis for imposing Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) starting in December 2022.
Asep added that vehicle owners who are more than three years old and will pay the vehicle tax must meet the emission test quality standards.
"If you do not pass the emission test and/or have not carried out the emission test, you will be subject to a tax penalty. The penalty coefficient is currently being discussed by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Finance," Asep said in a written statement, Tuesday (12/7).
Asep said his party was coordinating with related parties for the implementation of this policy. His party coordinated with the Polda Metro Jaya, the Regional Revenue Management Agency, and the Department of Transportation.
Asep said the legal basis for the policy was Government Regulation (PP) Number 22 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Environmental Protection and Management.
Article 206 Paragraph 2 (a) of the PP stipulates that compliance with emission tests is applied to road-based land transportation equipment that has entered a service life of more than three years.
In addition, Article 531 point f which regulates the fulfillment of quality standards for emission test results as the basis for imposing Motor Vehicle Tax for elements of environmental pollutants is enforced two years after the Government Regulation is promulgated. (ppid, antara)
