Prabowo invited the defense ministers of ASEAN countries to put aside differences and work hand in hand in safeguarding ASEAN's interests.
The Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto invites countries in Southeast Asia (ASEAN) to work hand in hand to protect the interests of Southeast Asia in the midst of great power competition.
This was conveyed by Prabowo at the 16th ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting (ADMM) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Wednesday (22/6/2022).
"We must not allow outside powers to divide ASEAN and drag us into their competition," Prabowo said.
Prabowo said that ADMM has become a multilateral forum that encourages defense cooperation in building mutual trust.
At this meeting, Prabowo invited the defense ministers of ASEAN countries to put aside differences and work hand in hand in safeguarding ASEAN's interests.
Prabowo also said that ASEAN countries have the same view of peace in Southeast Asia.
"The future of ASEAN and our people is on our shoulders, and I believe we all share the same view that we want peace and not conflict, cooperation rather than competition," Prabowo stressed. (Ministry of Defense, between)
