Commission VIII DPR and Ministry of Religion Agree on Hajj Fees This Year of IDR 39.8 Million

Indonesian pilgrims this year will get 3 meals a day in Saudi Arabia.

Commission VIII of the House of Representatives and the Ministry of Religion have agreed that the cost of this year's Hajj is Rp. 39,886,009 per congregation.

"We emphasize that the increase in the cost of hajj will not be charged to pilgrims by Rp1. Previously, the cost of hajj in 2020 was around Rp. 35 million, but we have agreed that it will not be charged to pilgrims," said Chairman of Commission VIII DPR Yandri Susanto in a Working Meeting with the Minister of Religion in Senayan, Jakarta. Meanwhile, the use of the benefit value in organizing this year's Hajj is Rp. 4.2 trillion. And the cost that comes from the value of the financial benefits of Hajj per congregation is IDR 41 million.

With the increase in the cost of the pilgrimage, of course, it will also increase the cost of services for the congregation while in the Holy Land. One of the service improvements is the congregation's food.

"Increased services such as the number of meals in Mecca and accommodation in Saudi Arabia, which previously had 2 meals a day, now have 3 meals a day," said Yandri.

Then the improvement of services in Mina and Arafah as well as the improvement of other services that are consistently carried out to improve Hajj services every year.

"It is hoped that the Ministry of Religion will continue to improve Hajj services, including diplomacy on hajj quotas to the Saudi government because until now the waiting list is getting longer, the longest in Makassar is up to 50 years," he concluded. (antara, micom)
