The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) has opened 10 hectares of land in Harumansari Village, Kadungora District, Garut, West Java, for ex-terrorism convicts to undergo welfare-based deradicalization.
The land area of 10 hectares was later referred to as the Integrated Archipelago Area (KTN).
"This KTN involves many parties. The state must be present and all parties must be involved considering terrorism is our common enemy," said Head of BNPT Komjen Pol Boy Rafli Amar in his statement, Saturday (2/7).
In addition to the Kadungora Garut, previously BNPT has opened KTN in Turen (East Java) and Sumbawa (NTB).
The KTN in Garut will be used as an area for cultivating honey bees, corn, palm sugar, avocados, and also as a tourism object.
Boy Rafli Amar explained that the presence of KTN became a forum for all parties to jointly carry out welfare-based deradicalization. With the presence of KTN Garut, deradicalization partners can mingle and be well received by the general public.
"With this KTN, it is hoped that the reintegration process of deradicalization partners with the community can run well," said Boy Rafli.
Boy Rafli also said that the selection of the Garut area of West Java was also one of the KTN locations to suppress potential that might arise.
"A program like this is prepared to build mutual awareness against terrorism radicalism," said the former Papuan Police Chief.
Meanwhile, Garut Deputy Regent Helmi Budiman assessed that the opening of the KTN proved that the local government and the district community agreed to reject all forms of violent ideology that divides the unity and integrity of the nation. "We can be proud of the presence of KTN in Harumansari Garut Village. We don't want terrorism in Indonesia," he said.
One of the deradicalization partners who attended the event, Yoki Candra, hoped that the existence of the Garut National Park could be a means of social reintegration. (antara)
